Monday Madness…

This morning I start my new 9-5.

Let’s just say I am nervous as all hell! At my previous job, as much as it drained the life from me I knew where I stood (to an extent). People knew me, I knew who was who, and I had been there long enough to understand the different cliques, the different pressures…

I feel like I am about to walk into high school again…

I become the newbie finding my way. I am going completely out of my comfort zone. I am pushing my own sense of self to the limit…

And it is only now I begin to feel nervous! As I sit down on a Sunday afternoon, to plan and prepare for the week ahead…As I begin to contemplate what tomorrow will bring. As I think about what the day itself will hold. Childhood fears rise to the surface yet again…

Will I fit in? Will people be nice? and the thoughts go on and on…

Which got me to thinking… I know what advise I would give to someone else, and I cannot be ythe only person in the world facing something new…

So why not, put that advice down on paper and see where we go from there?

So here we are, I top tips for turning Madness into Magic… from being out on a limb to securely nestled in safety… or more to the point… turn nerves into positive movement forward….

  • Accept your emotions.

We are emotional. At the end of the day we have our ups, our downs and our inside out moments. It is all part of the journey of remembering our true self. Yet, somewhere along the line we forgot that it is okay to feel. It is okay to be upset, to be joyous, overwhelmed, excited, nervous… We are actually allowed to have emotions. It isn’t about turning the emotions off, but rather accepting the exist, and acknowledging that they are real, and they are what you are feeling in that moment. That’s the thing, your emotions don’t own you. They are a part of you, but they are not the only part of you. Accept them, and move on… allow them to come forward, but be wary you don’t force them to stay by trying to get them to leave…Pay them only the energy you need to acknowledge them, and if in that moment it does not serve you, release it.

  • Focus on the moment, rather than the future.

In situations which we perceive as stressful, we tend to focus on the multiple outcomes that could occur. The result is a wound up person concerns with a million outcomes, but not focusing on the moment. Shift your attention to the moment and use it to set your intention. Your intention is the most powerful tool you have in your toolkit. Everyday you set your intention, if you are aware of it or not… Draw your attention to the now, if your intention does not align with your behaviour, now is the time review one or both of them…

  • Take time to self care.

In all of this, all the stress, the worry, the newness of it all, it is easy to lose one’s way and find yourself on the outside watching your life go by. One key way that can help you be in the moment, rather than the outside is self-care. Whether it is a hot cup of tea, or long soak in the bathtub, self care can help you realign and re state your intention for the moment. Self-care is such an important aspect of being, yet it is the first that disappears when stress hits. Allow yourself at least 5 minutes a day to sit, to be, to smile from within…

  • Allow new experiences to come forward.

With new beginnings and experiences often come one of two things. We allow the new experiences in the entirety, or we deny the experience access. Often we don’t even realise we are doing it. We hold back from fully allowing an experience to come forward. Be expect to be let down putting a barrier up. It is when we are in these moments of doubt that we miss the beautiful opportunities that can come our way. Stop looking for reasons to turn away and allow new experiences to knock… only you can turn them away…

So as you head into this week remember that you hold all the power in your reality. To accept the madness or turn it into magical opportunities…

I know which way I am facing ❤
