Last week we focussed on being in the moment. We drew our attention to our own needs in that moment, acknowledging what served us and releasing that which did not.
It isn’t easy, focusing on the moment, especially when that moment feels so foreign or uncomfortable. But despite how difficult it is, it is so important to do!
Just as important, perhaps even more so, is self-care. Now we all know the term, but how many of us can say we truthfully honour the process and allow ourselves a moment of peace? Can you? Can you honestly say that today, yesterday or even over the last week you spent a moment, doing exactly what you needed to do, to show yourself some love?
This time last year I met a fabulous lady who sells those shakti mat things. You know the mats with pointy little plastic bits, designed to trigger pressure points and mimic/provide accupresure? Well, part of this conversation focused on what is self care, and how hard it can be to achieve. That’s why the mat and other similar products are so great – they force you to stop and honour what you need to do. These mats just have the added value of having a specific purpose!
So this week’s challenge is two-fold.
Step 1: Write a list of all the things you can do for self love and care. Categorise them into time that you can accomplish them. 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes and 1 hour plus.
Step 2: Each day for the next seven days honour yourself and select something to do. We can all find minute to self honour and care, so even if you select the 1 minute task for seven days in a row, at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you committed and did it. Regardless of what else was going on around you, in that moment you chose to do something that made your soul sing. 1 minute or 60, time doesn’t matter.
